Four tips on how to choose your college in India
Four tips on how to choose your college in India
One thing that I noticed most of the times, is that
almost everyone who came here decided to just go for any colleges in India that their
friends recommended them or counselor or the college itself. But after a while
they discover that it is not what they were hoping for, for those who really
came here for studying. Most of the time people coming from a foreign
countries, such as Democratic Republic of Congo, we are not completing aware
about all the other prospects for colleges as there are really good colleges
which provides better educations and placements that really could help foreign
students to have the possibilities to opt for a good placements that some
universities don’t offer.
So, here are my tips to do and not do, when coming
for studying:
1. Do your own research
It doesn’t kill to do your own research about that
college, on field or prior coming to the country and it would be much better
for you to have your own opinion about the college chosen for you. On the field
you can also change the college and sometimes ask from your faculties about
better option if you don’t seem satisfied with the actual program. If your
friend/family member/consultancy agency, recommend you that college, please be
careful, most of these people sometimes they earn a bonus for any successful admission
done through recommendations. It means that when they recommend you for a
particular college, and you agreed to get the admission, they will earn some
commission. So please make sure they are honest with you about the university
that you will be stuck into.
2. Don’t be fool by the advertising
One thing that I have to admit is that here in
India; they have a much better advertising campaign that in D.R.Congo, colleges
and institutions put so much effort to make sure that their colleges are the best
of the best. But, you should be careful, please check online if the campus is
genuine asks your friends who live here in India as it would help you a lot to
dodge the bullet.
3. Do your own list
Before finalising your admission, after doing some
research you should go check if the university is good and establish a list
that will help you to figure out what may be the better option for you. The
list could be based on the fees require for the college, opportunities for
placements, the educations provided there. Believe me that would help you to do
the selection and have a better exposure for jobs. Here is some list, Christ
University, Symbiosis University, Delhi University, Amity University, and
Jawaharlal Nehru University etc.
4. Do again have some cautions
Well, here is the part that I don’t like to talk
about but we will definitely come to that point soon. In India, despite the major good points as an
African/ foreigner, you need to be careful on the choice of the city you are
going to live and the University. I would recommend living in Big
Cities or town where most foreigners live in, such as New Delhi, Pune,
Bangalore or Chennai.
