It is one of the most famous places in Delhi that I like to visit. The National Gallery of Modern Art was created
around the 50’s; it is open every day from 10.00 am-5.00pm. It is located in
Rajpath near India Gate, or the New Delhi High-Court. You can take an auto/cab
to reach there which I would definitely recommend as there is no metro station
nearby. In the beginning, it was the residence of Maharaja of Jaipur; this is
the reason also why it is also called the House of Jaipur. The inauguration of
the gallery was done by the former Vice-President Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, in the
presence of the former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. I would recommend anyone to visit the Gallery
it represents the contemporary Art of India, I loved the paintings and the
sculpture over there.
The first time that I visited there was last year with a friend of mine, I have read about it on Time out magazine which was talking about the different venues to go in Delhi during the month and I was happy to go there with a friend. I am not an artist but I do appreciate Art, I found the gallery great, I loved some of the paintings and the sculptures were really good and I think that the real art’s aficionados might want to have a look there.
